Who says you can’t have a delicious Vietnamese coffee at home? Let’s make some instant Vietnamese coffee, a quick recipe that has all the strong coffee flavours with the sweet taste of condensed milk.

Vietnamese coffee, known for its strong flavour with sweet condensed milk, is a staple in Vietnam!

This instant version keeps it simple and straightforward, perfect for when you’re short on time but craving something sweet and strong.

Simple ingredients for Instant Vietnamese Coffee ☕

Condensed milk: Sweetens the coffee, giving it that creamy texture and signature sweetness.

Instant coffee: Provides a strong coffee flavour, you likely have this in your pantry so this will be super convenient!

Hot water: Needed to dissolve the instant coffee, creating the base of your drink.

Milk: Adds creaminess and mellows out the strong, sweet flavours for a balanced finish.

*These are the main ingredients. The full list of ingredients and measurements can be found at the bottom of this post!*

What's with all the ice?

Vietnamese coffee is traditionally drank with a lot of CRUSHED ice. The reason is because the base of this coffee is typically very strong and very sweet, so the idea is that you slowly sip the coffee while the ice melts to slowly dilute the coffee and condensed milk!

Why you’ll love this Instant Vietnamese Coffee 🫶🏻

It’s quick – try something different in a flash, great for those rushed mornings or when you need a quick pick-me-up.

You can adjust the sweetness and bitterness. Change the amount of condensed milk or coffee to suit your taste. Like it sweeter? Go heavy on the condensed milk. Need it stronger? Add an extra teaspoon of coffee.

FAQ 🤔

Can I use regular milk instead of condensed milk? I wouldn’t. It won’t be the same, as condensed milk’s sweetness and thickness are key.

Which instant coffee is best? Honestly, any will do, I used a popular generic brand. But for a more authentic flavour, you can use a Vietnamese brand.

No electric frother? Just give it a good stir. The texture might be different, but the taste will be there.

For this Instant Vietnamese Coffee, I use this milk frother! I use it every day to froth my milk for my morning coffee. Tag me on Instagram or Tiktok or DM me a photo if you make this recipe!
